Hiking
The Malerwinkel is a popular viewing point on the north bank of the Königssee. From there you have a fantastic view of the entire length of the Königssee with the pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä.
From the boat dock at the Königssee, go left past the boathouses and take the wide hiking trail to the viewing point. The circular route takes you on an easy path through a mixed mountain forest to the valley station of the Jennerbahn. From there you can get back to the Königssee car park.
BEST MONTHS: all year round
REQUIREMENTS: hiking boots, also suitable for inexperienced hikers
WHAT TO EXPECT: easy walk with little incline
Please note that the difficulty information on the tour portals and signposts in the area can differ from one another. Your tour planning should be adapted to your physical condition, which is why we ask you to always take all factors into account and not to ignore the signs in the area!
The difficulty information on the signposts in the area corresponds to the path categories of the DAV (German Alpine Association). This tour is marked in blue and is therefore considered an easy mountain path. The paths are often narrow and can have steep passages; there is no danger of falling.
Getting there by public transport (often free with the guest card of the valley basin communities; exceptions possible):

From Berchtesgaden: Bus line 840
From Schönau: Bus line 843
From Ramsau: Bus line 846 - change at the bus station/Berchtesgaden main station - Bus lines 843, 841

After the trip to St. Bartholomä, we enjoyed a twilight walk to the Malerwinkel and the view of the lake.
I do this circular hiking trail every time I'm here 🤗 I actually wanted to go up to the Rabenwand but 400m before the finish a woman fell because of the snow and ice 😮💨So help and then turn around😖 Winter...that's just how it is ✌🏻
Just a quick note today: since moving from Ruhpolding to Schönau am Königssee took a little longer than I thought, I could only think of the Malerwinkel circular route. Of course it was very crowded again at the Seelande and the crossing to St. Bartholomä or Salet is as popular as ever. With the temperatures you can also venture into the water, although it should be added that the Königssee is one of the colder lakes. He is said to have had 21°C today. But today was as fantastic as I have seldom experienced and I have been to the shore of this lake countless times. The mountains seemed so clear, the sky so blue and the sun playing on the water was absolutely delightful :-D Tomorrow it will be 30°C, I'm curious where it will take me...
The inner voice would not be silenced - or was it the call of the Königssee? Our son's new home is a 40-minute drive from the lake that we love so much. So we used a small window of time in the afternoon to see each other again. A few soothing steps and a delicious light beer here in our personal paradise made this little trip something very special. We wish you a nice Sunday 🖖
Last day. Departure for Zorneding tomorrow and then back to Lipperland on Monday. I really hope that my kitten hasn't used up her 7 lives and will be scratching the patio window again next week. That was one of my problems here.
After the crowds at the jetty put us off, we looked for a quieter way back to the car park. After a shopping stop, we ended the tour a little earlier. We should have followed the advice of a casual acquaintance and set off for Königssee very early. That way, we would have just looked at the lake without taking the boat ride.
