Did the tour but didn't record it. Therefore clicked together afterwards. Interesting that Komoot gives a time and creates a speed profile.
The hiking trail through the Wimbachklamm leads over a wooden footbridge, steps and small bridges, the path is approx. 200 m long. Here you can watch the water in its element as it winds its way through the gorge - a nice natural spectacle. The path then continues very gradually ⛰up, the "river bed" then suddenly turns into a stone and scree level, the so-called Gries, the Wimbach probably continues underground, with larger amounts of water it then carries the scree further and further. After about 5 km, the Wimbach Castle (a small old hunting lodge) invites you to take a break with delicious food and refreshing drinks. It then goes back the same way. If you like, you can also hike further to the Wimbachgrieshütte or aim for one or the other hiking destination, all very well signposted. Leisurely hike...
A fairly easy tour, first through the Wimbach Gorge and then up to the Wimbach "castle" - and back. From there you can of course continue to the Wimbach Hut or beyond. But for those who are not so sporty or families with children, the first destination is already good and very nice to look at. Especially the stretch above the gorge along the stream. You don't have to stay on the wide hiking trail the whole time. There are always small paths that run closer to the stream and parallel to the main hiking trail. It is quicker on the main path, of course, but the small ones are nicer. The hut offers delicious food (cash only) and a small play area in the forest.
Easy tour. Ideal when the legs sometimes. Need a day off. There is a fee to cross the gorge. Tour is suitable for the dog.
"Autumn is the season when nature turns the page." A geological landmark in Berchtesgaden National Park The Wimbach Gorge in Berchtesgaden National Park is not only a geologically impressive landmark and a wildly romantic natural monument, but also a popular destination for hikers and walkers. The power of water is just as evident here as the immense time it takes nature to form such landscapes. Entry to the Wimbach Gorge is only possible from one side, from the beginning of the gorge. Tickets for entry to the gorge through a turnstile are available from a machine at Wimbachlehen, about 300 meters before the entrance to the Wimbach Gorge. When returning from Wimbach Castle, there is no way through, but you can bypass the gorge above. 🤗
