Hiking

First, follow hiking trail 441 from the starting point at the “Wimbachbrücke” car park in the direction of Watzmannhaus. Just behind the bridge, keep right and after about 500 meters you reach a forest road, from which you turn right after another 200 meters at the second junction. Follow the path past the Stubenalm to the Mitterkaseralm to the climate station. From here, the paved road narrows to a mountain path. Follow this up to the Watzmannhaus (open in summer). The return journey takes you on the same route.

TIP: From the Watzmannhaus you can continue hiking to the Hocheck, one of the three Watzmann peaks. Here you definitely need mountain experience, very good fitness and the appropriate equipment!

BEST MONTHS: June to October

REQUIREMENTS: mountain boots, alpine experience, sure-footedness, very good physical condition and sufficient snacks + drinks

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: high level of difficulty, demanding tour with very steep climbs

Please note that the difficulty information on the tour portals and signposts in the area can differ from one another. Your tour planning should be adapted to your physical condition, which is why we ask you to always take all factors into account and not to ignore the signs in the area!

The difficulty information on the signposts in the area corresponds to the path categories of the DAV (German Alpine Association). This tour is marked in red and is therefore considered a moderately difficult climb. The climbs are narrow and mostly steep. Short passages with a risk of falling or places secured with wire ropes must be mastered.

ARRIVAL BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Usually free with the guest card of the valley basin communities (exceptions possible).

It is best to get off at the “Wimbachbrücke” stop. From there it is only a few meters (approx. 150 m) on foot.

Servus, I don't want to have too many emotions and impressions today, but it was a blast 🧨

Great tour to the Watzmannhaus. You should be sure-footed and have a good basic condition. We [all] had to do the last 100m via the winter trail, a small via ferrata, because the summer trail wasn't yet snow-free.

The 2nd attempt to conquer the Watzmann is started, we had to get down from the Watzmannhaus last year because of bad weather. New year, new partner, new attempt 😉💪🏻 It started well 🙈, were on Saturday during the holidays at 8.30 a.m. at the parking lot of the Wimbachbrücke and of course red and nothing more free. I almost thought so, but just didn't want to start before 6 a.m. We parked in the Watzmann car park 1 km further ahead on the main street. Unfortunately, the annual ticket from Königsee is not valid and had to pay €18 for 3 days💩. The path behind the bridge to the ascent was also closed due to a landslide caused by the heavy rainfall in recent weeks. So it was a little detour around the outside. We had plenty of time and I'm too busy at the Watzmannhaus anyway 😉 Then climbed up quite relaxed, I already knew the way. Luckily for Stefan "The machine🦿" it was the first time 👍🏻. He also discovered a 🐸 right away 😁. After passing the first hut, a long break was announced at the bank and we could enjoy the peace and nature🪵🤩 Stefan also immediately found a new friend 🦋😉. We also took a look at the supply station of the Watzmannhaus 😉 Next goal is to enjoy the Mitterkaseralm and an apple spritzer and a homemade cake from the wood-fired oven. 😋 After the Alm it's a rocky climb and then there's the great view of the little Watzmann or Watzmannfrau.🤩 Always a highlight and we'll have to climb it too 😉 Then there's the view of the Watzmann children and the family is complete 😀 The Watzmannhaus can be seen and the view towards the Hocheck summit. The round summit that you can see from the Watzmannhaus is not the summit as many think, after that it's rocky and steep. 💪🏻😉 Had booked a double room so the luxury apartment 😋😜 The view from the window was just wonderful and the anticipation for tomorrow was great, but also the respect for this difficult tour. Everyone is allowed to form their own opinion about the Watzmannhaus 😉 However, the water was free last year, now every liter for the drinking bladder costs €2. I probably wrote almost the same text as last year, but don't worry I'll never come along that quickly....😜😁 The weather for tomorrow's crossing has gotten worse again.......🤔

Today a relaxed ascent to the Watzmannhaus, easy hiking trails up to here 😅

Very demanding route, but the exertion was rewarded with a magnificent view.

In the sunshine we went up to the Watzmannhaus at 1930m. Unfortunately, the weather deteriorated rapidly and soon we made our way through a lot of rain. But the play of clouds was indescribable! ☁️🌧️

Unfortunately, the descent only took place again in the rain. In the valley we were even surprised by the sun ☀ Despite the bad weather it was a nice tour and the mountain doesn’t run away! 😊

Proud as punch 😂whoever that may be 🤷‍♀️😄. Damn the 1400 - 1550 or so... it was definitely worth it 🥳so beautiful 🥰⛰️jackdaws 🤭let's not talk about it, but of course they got something... the Kaiserschmarn is really amazing 😋. On the way back I saw... Tetrov and black grouse, definitely a worthwhile tour and finally made it... hello Watzmann 😍
