Graveltour Wernau – Winter.Gravel.Sweat

63.1km

Gravel riding

It starts at the Quadrium in Wernau, where a wonderful wellness landscape with Moroccan flair awaits you after the tour.

You start this gravel tour comfortably in the direction of Reichenbach an der Fils, before you tackle the first long ascent after about nine kilometers. It becomes noticeably quieter with every turn of the crank. After a little more than 200 meters of altitude you will reach the Schurwald plateau. But a short time later you are racing down again until you cross the road to Nassach and the river of the same name. What comes next is pure nature! Explore the Bärentobel nature reserve on a beautiful gravel road.

Once at the top, the next highlight of this tour is already waiting for you: the idyllic Herrenbachtal and its reservoir. You will pass some rest areas here, which invite you to linger in this particularly charming area.

In the vicinity of the village of Schlichten, enchanting views of the Remstal and the Swabian Alb open up to you. And a short time later you will be able to enjoy a long gravel downhill. On a lonely forest path you jet down to Reichenbach an der Fils. If you are in the mood for a hot drink or some delicious baked goods, a detour to the center is worthwhile. With the energy stores filled up, you go through the lonely Lützelbachtal up to the Schurwald again. One last gravel descent and you're back in the Neckar Valley.

When you have left the small town of Schlichten behind you, you have great views of the Swabian Alb and the Remstal. On this plateau in the virgin forest, it suddenly makes perfect sense where the place got its name from. Schlichten is derived from the Middle High German "slithe" and means level.

Absolutely brilliant round. Did the route yesterday, what can I say... just great, hardly been on the public road. 👍
