This demanding tour takes you directly from the sunny city of Freiburg to the local mountain Schauinsland and the best trails in the area. These were built by the Freiburg Mountain Bike Association partly with the help of Canadian trail construction professionals and are just fun!
But before the trail fun begins, you deserve a few meters of altitude. From Freiburg you first drive more or less parallel to the Schauinslandstraße until you reach the valley station of the Schauinslandbahn. If you don't have that much time or your strength for the trails
want to save, you have the opportunity to use the cable car here - bicycles are also transported in the gondolas.
If you decide to conquer the mountain on your own, you will be rewarded with a great view from time to time until you finally reach the top. The Schauinsland Tower is the perfect place for a little break before you rush back to Freiburg via the "Badish Moon Rising" Flowtrail and the "Canadian Trail".
Tip:
The "Canadian Trail" is quite demanding and not so well suited for beginners. However, there are always opportunities to switch from trails to wide trails.

The mountain bike tour was very demanding, while the tour up to the Brocken was a walk in the park. The tour started out very easy with dirt roads, then went up to category 1-2 for mountain bikes, sometimes with very steep passages with rocks and roots. A breathtaking view from above.
Tour from the car park of the gondola station to the Schauinsland. After a short push, there are good signage with blue arrows on a yellow background. First forest roads up along valleys typical of the Black Forest. In front of the Schauinsland summit there was a lot of climbing on rocky and steep trails. Once at the top, you were rewarded with the best view. The Badish Moonrising trail began shortly after the summit station. First rocky downhill then alternating up & down with a really cool flow to the Kypfelsen. In a few passages, the trail/climb is shared with hikers. After the Kypfelsen the Canadian trail begins, which is divided into 9 sections. The first are quite rough and rocky with rocky steep passages. Down below it becomes more and more flowy including tables and kickers. The allegedly most flowy part, section 8+9, was closed due to trail work. Oh well, next time😜 From Sternwaldwiese on forest paths to Günterstal, from there on the bike path back to start. Praise to the Canadian trail builders👍🆓 trailing in BW
The two trails were again a highlight from the top. About 1000hm and 11km down. In between uphill passages, small stretches. Rocky, stepy, roots, flowing. Everything included. It was nice
