Family hiking trail "Der dürre Klaus" – with the kids in the Rhön

"Der Dürre Klaus" is not a fairy tale character from a bad horror story, nor is it an evil, petrified soul. No, "der Dürre Klaus" is a beautiful family hiking trail in the Rhön.

We start at the paddock outside the small village of Wasungen in the Rhön and walk along an idyllic cherry plantation that nature lovers will rave about. Like the small pavilion, the plantation is freely accessible and certainly worth a detour. From there we walk through a small, fairytale forest below the Klausberg and climb up the Dürrberg via a picturesque natural staircase. This brings us to the old rifleman's house, which offers a magical view and is ideal for a short break to clean up the provisions we have brought with us.

Then it goes on through a shady, mysterious beech forest on the Dürrberg. Here the descent begins at the pulpit, which reveals a viewing platform with a fantastic view of the Rhön. We walk further down to the Lutherhain, where 500 years of Reformation are remembered. Finally we are back in the village of Wasungen, where typical agricultural barns and animal paddocks await us on the outskirts of the village - a highlight for all animal fans!

You shouldn't miss the unbelievable spectacle of nature when the cherry trees blossom and are harvested.
