A very special work of art, because everyone can take part. Grab the excavation tool and continue to uncover the stone. Over time, more and more of the work of art will become visible.

I packed everything I thought I would need: long trouser legs (brought along for nothing), my "ultra-light folding hiking stool" in case there were no benches for a rest (packed for nothing). No matter how you do it, it's wrong. The hiking trail was wonderfully signposted, the paths were very easy to walk on, well maintained and even mowed where necessary. Benches on every corner and also ones where you didn't have to worry about them collapsing when you sat down. We met the same people as yesterday: none 🤣🤣 It is a very idyllic and quiet landscape. A hike there can only be recommended. If you want to do a little more, you can dig up the 16-ton granite stone. Spades, rubber boots, gloves, etc. are available for this in a small hut with a stamping station (see photo 20) 😜

Starting from the Limes car park, follow the "R" markings. Right at the beginning, you pass the remains of a Roman watchtower, part of the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site. The gentle climbs of the dream tour past the specially made stone cast of the spring nymph lead the hiker through a varied landscape to the outskirts of Bofsheim. You can take a break at the Jupiterbank on the way and enjoy the idyllic view of the region. The path leads past three historic fountains in the forest. A number of information boards along the route give insights into Roman times and provide information about the two sculptures "Excavations" and "The Bridge". If you still have energy, you should definitely visit the Limes watchtower in the Limes Park on the other side of Osterburken, which has been faithfully reproduced to the original, and the Roman Museum.

Starting point: Limes car park to the Merkur path in the direction of Bofsheim (near the Osterburken shooting range) Today we walked our first of the six Roman paths. From wide, paved paths to narrower forest paths, everything is there. However, the paths are always easy to walk on, special skills are not necessary. For the most part, the Merkurweg runs through dense forest - only in a few places does one cross open meadows. Above all, the benches by the three fountains invite you to take a short break in the absolutely quiet and idyllic forest. Overall, a great tour for anyone who loves nature🌳🌳

The hiking trail is well signposted throughout. Very varied, not suitable for strollers. Suitable for children aged 3 and over as there is so much to discover.

https://youtu.be/ap-7jBbueak Hello everyone 🙂 Anne and I took the Roman paths again. This time it was the path of Mercury. The hiking trail was very pleasant to walk, with a constant alternation of narrow paths and wide paths. The sights on the way were also impressive: 2 watchtower remains, a piece of Limeswall, 3 beautiful fountains and beautiful views 🙂Plus lots of signs around the Limes 👍 A really nice hiking experience 🥰 Excursus: Afterwards we went to the Roman town of Osterburken. A trip that is definitely worth it for all Limes/Roman fans. The local Roman museum is small, but really well done. Built around/on the remains of a Roman bathhouse, there are all sorts of excavation finds and also props of Roman legionnaires' equipment to marvel at (the latter explained by a super-friendly older gentleman 🥰) 😎 As if that wasn't enough, there are the remains of one not far from the museum old Roman fort and a bit uphill a piece of Limes has been recreated 👍 Kind regards and have fun hiking everyone 🙂 Tobias P.S. The cake at the Roman Museum was also very tasty 🥰 P.P.S. Be careful of ticks... one or two passages lead through tall grass... I picked 3 ticks off of me...🙄

Another very beautiful Roman path that is well signposted.

It was another lovely walk. The Roman path is very well marked, so even people without a sense of direction (like me) can find their way without any problems. The weather was good too and we were able to enjoy the benches 🌞🌞
