Rohrhardsberg Nature Trail

This round promises a tingling hiking experience in the Rohrhardsberg nature reserve. Look forward to lush meadows, quiet moors, a roaring waterfall, and wide views all the way to the Vosges. In addition, you will be accompanied by a very special motif. Along the way, cuckoo clocks of all shapes and colors hang in the trees, providing that special Black Forest charm.

From the Mühlebühl parking lot, you first walk along the Elz river and past the Auerhahnkugelbahn (ball track). However, you (and your children) will need your own ball to play with it. Via a forest path, you reach the 1,163-meter-high Rohrhardsberg, the highest point in the Schwarzwald-Baar district. From the viewpoint at the summit, the view on a clear day extends far across the Rhine Valley to the Vosges and into the Northern Black Forest.

You continue hiking first to the rustic Schwedenschanze inn. A little later, the impressive Schänzlehof follows, the highest-lying farm in the Middle Black Forest. Past the listed Ochsenhof, the path then leads steeply down into the valley, where the Elz waterfalls provide an atmospheric conclusion before you return to the starting point.
