Orientation walk along the lakes on the Ville. Altitude meters on the Ahr were planned. But rescheduled to a flat tour because of knees. Either on long, wide highway-like paths or directly at the three lakes through brambles and slops.

The Ville mountain range runs over 50 km from north to south through the center of the Rhineland Nature Park. It is a landscape that has seen many changes. Opencast lignite mining began here in the 1870s, initially with pickaxes and later with heavy-duty excavators. Fields, forests and villages had to give way to him. After the quarrying area was closed, the landscape was recultivated: new biotopes, fields with individual farms and small hamlets, young deciduous forests and scenic lakes developed. The 40 lakes of the Ville Lake District were created from the remains of brown coal mining. The area is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. Source: https://www.naturpark-rheinland.de/orte-landschaften/ville-ville-seenplatte/index.html The lake tour is a circular route that leads right into the beautiful local recreation area of the Villerücken forest and lake landscape. Today we passed several lakes: the Liblar See, the Bleibtreusee, the Heider Bergsee, the Pingsdorfer See as well as the Untersee, Mittelsee and Obersee. The path runs mostly through the forest, but in some places also directly along the lakes, with seating to linger. While the Ober-, Mittel- and Untersee as well as the Pingsdorfer See are under landscape protection and are not accessible, the three large lakes are popular bathing lakes. In sunny weather we enjoyed the round very much. We found the loop very nice, even though the paths were unfortunately very muddy today due to the heavy rain lately. We can definitely recommend the round for hiking.
A good hike. Families can walk optimally, as can older hikers. Varied, it goes through the forest and past the water. In the beach baths you can get drinks and eat a little something. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2022, there is a strong smell of dog excrement. Heaps everywhere....you can't remove them. Actually, you want to enjoy the scent of the forest.
Departure and arrival at the car park (cul de sac) Seestrasse/Liblar/Erftstadt/Köln. There is room for +-15 cars. The beginning is very interesting, then it becomes monotonous with the straight lines along the big lake for 4-5 km. Then it is clearly varied and magnificent. Countless water points (see) one after the other. We want to stop at each bench or the edge of the lakes. Easy route without any risk. I met a lot of people walking, running, and especially cyclists.
I had time to hike today and in view of the sunny weather I chose a lake circuit with lots of shade in the forest. The €9 ticket is still valid, so I traveled by public transport again. This time train chaos was announced again, but with the VRR app I was able to master it to some extent. The bottom line is that I lost another hour of "lifetime". The tour itself largely met my expectations, even if I liked the "lake tour" on Lake Haltern better. At the "Viller Lakes" you notice the nearby metropolitan area more. I hardly found solitude and the paths are mostly gravel and pretty straight. I wouldn't make the long journey to do it again. Anyone who lives in the area will find a beautiful piece of nature here.

.....and in spring/summer there is a beautiful beer garden near the Erftstadt/Liblar train station (at point 17), the "Waldbiergarten", which invites you to stop off at the end: waldbiergarten.eu
