This route was planned by komoot.
This beautiful hike begins at the "Pont de l'Alpe" bridge, on the main road that runs through the Guisane Valley. Along the rapid Torrent du Rif the GR50 goes up to the hamlet of L'Alpe du Lauzet. At this point you have to decide whether you want to do a circular hike (with a small but challenging section - T3) or a long-distance hike. The circular tour goes left into the valley basin and from there through the so-called “chimney”. This is a small gorge that is secured with wire ropes and arrives directly at the picturesque Grand Lac mountain lake. For this section you should be sure-footed and not afraid of heights! The route hike stays along the torrent and leads through partly slightly swampy pastures, east of the mountain ridges of La Bruyère, to a saddle with panoramic views. From here you have a wonderful panorama of the Grand Lac mountain lake below.

The starting point of this walk is on the road to the Col du Lautaret, past the village of Le Monêtier-les-Bains near Pont de l'Alpe.
In the summer it is a popular starting point for walks, make sure you get there on time. From the parking lot you initially walk via a gravel road to L'Alpe du Lauzet
