The first tour of the day took us on beautiful paths and trails, first through a dreamy meadow landscape and then along the Warche to the shore of Lake Robertville. At the end of the tour, the lido beckons - so don't forget your swimming trunks! 😉👍🏻 https://www.ostbelgien.eu/de/fiche/hiking/gewinntour-17-robertville
👉 Tour template from: https://www.komoot.de/user/ostbelgien "The Robertville reservoir is a popular destination for swimming, fishing or hiking. You start in Robertville, but first turn to the beautiful meadow landscapes above the lake. Quiet paths lead you through the dreamy landscape. You follow the small Quarreux stream. Not far from its source you reach the Vennbahn route. There hasn't been a train here for a long time. Nowadays, an extremely popular cycle and hiking path runs along the route. Here you leave the Quarreux behind you and hike towards the Warche. You cross the Robertville reservoir over two beautiful bridges and also hike a bit directly along its shore, where you can usually see anglers waiting patiently for their catch. You will soon reach the popular beach. Hopefully you have packed your bathing suits for a refreshing break in the cool water. Either way, you continue on to the beautiful Robertville, where the circle closes and you can look back on a wonderful hike with a cool drink." 🐻****************************************🐻 Directions by car 🚗 : Parking lot Rue du Barrage, 4950 Waimes, Belgium 50°27'15.4"N 6°07'20.3"E
A very nice tour through Robertville, through the valleys of Quarreux and Warche and over the heights, very varied. Unfortunately, the lake is very empty again, the renovation work on the dam, which has been going on for 15 years, is still in progress. The advent calendar in Robertville is also very nice with 24 places with the destination at the church. Very lovingly designed. Gladly again at a different time of the year
Today I took advantage of the beautiful weather to finally log the last few kilometers of my 2025 running 🤣. Since this was a very spontaneous decision, I opted for a route I had already planned. It was absolutely gorgeous. As I love walking near water, I was able to make the most of this on the hike. Unfortunately, part of the forest was closed, so I had to struggle down a small slope. Due to the weather conditions, it was not only wet and muddy but also slippery.
Monday, September 12, 2022: Weekly "BIOS" tour It was under a very beautiful sun that Jean-Jacques took a group of 10 BIOS in the woods and partly along the lake of Robertville. We took the road, forest trails full of winding roots forcing us to be careful where we put our feet. Very nice walk with some steep difficulties, in both directions. Distance measured with Sity Trail, seeming closer to reality.
Today the tour ran again in nice weather, it was a dream again. The lake is 3m higher than last time and the Warche still has a lot of water. Very varied and worth every meter
Today I drove to East Belgium to do another leisurely hike, this time accompanied by Elisabeth. Leisurely hike 17, also known as "From the Lake to the Sources of the Quarreux," is a hike in East Belgium that leads through the meadows near Robertville and along the wild Warche River. The hike offers a relaxed hike with changing landscapes, including the beaver stream and the lake. It begins in Robertville and initially leads through dreamy meadows, past an old footpath to the former railway station. Then it continues on narrow paths along the Warche, past a lake and a beaver stream. In a cleared forest, we deviated slightly from the route and missed a signpost, but with a small detour, we were back on track. Lake Robertville is located in the municipality of Waimes. It is a perfect spot for people seeking peace and relaxation. The lake is surrounded by dense forests. The views and panoramas are very beautiful. In Robertville-les-Bains, you can also swim in crystal-clear water! On May 24, 1930, the Robertville Dam was completed, which also led to the electrification of the town; one of the first buildings to be illuminated was the village church. The construction of the dam led to the disappearance of the town's mills and tannery, which were submerged below the water level. Conclusion of today's tour: I really enjoyed the narrow, shady sections of the trail in the forest or along the edge of the forest. About 50% of the trails are shaded, making this tour easy to walk in summer, even in today's very humid air. Many anglers tried their luck at the lake, others paddled or enjoyed the lake for a swim. Others felt they had to ride their bikes along the narrow, root-strewn trails. Others enjoyed the peace and quiet at the campsite by the barbecue. There were plenty of opportunities to pursue one's favorite pastime.
