The Super Balade 4 trail is consistently rated as easy. It's designed as a short family walk, making it suitable for all ages and those looking for a gentle outdoor activity without a strenuous climb.
The trail offers a varied landscape, blending natural spaces with contemporary urban developments. You'll encounter a mix of natural areas, woodlands (including the 87-hectare Bordeaux wood with meadows and ponds), and modern urban settings. Much of the route likely follows paved or well-maintained paths, suitable for both walking and cycling.
This trail offers a diverse experience. You'll pass by the Bordeaux lake, the Tasta district with its green belt, ponds, and canals, Bordeaux Lake beach, and the unique Villabois housing estate. The route also features the significant Parc Floral, known for its impressive collections of peonies, magnolias, and a large rose garden. You'll also see the Matmut Atlantique stadium and the eco-labeled Ginko district.
Yes, the Super Balade 4 trail is specifically highlighted as a 'short family walk' and is considered very family-friendly due to its easy difficulty and minimal elevation gain. It offers diverse scenery that can keep children engaged.
While the trail passes through various urban and natural areas, specific regulations for dogs are not detailed. It's generally advisable to keep dogs on a leash, especially in shared spaces, urban sections, and protected natural areas like the Barail reserve, to ensure safety and respect for wildlife and other visitors.
The trail can be enjoyed year-round, but spring and autumn are often ideal for comfortable temperatures and vibrant scenery, especially when the Parc Floral is in bloom. Summer can be pleasant, but ensure you have sun protection, as some sections may be exposed.
No specific permits or entrance fees are mentioned as required for hiking the Super Balade 4 trail itself. It is generally accessible to the public.
The trail includes sections that pass through The Barail reserve. This is an ecological reserve, so visitors should adhere to general conservation principles: stay on marked paths, do not disturb wildlife, and take all trash with you. No specific entrance fees or permits are noted for accessing this part of the trail.
Specific parking information for the Super Balade 4 trail is not provided. However, given its peri-urban nature and proximity to Bordeaux Lake and various facilities, it's likely that public parking options are available in the surrounding districts like Tasta or near the Parc Floral and Matmut Atlantique stadium. We recommend checking local parking availability before your visit.
Yes, the route also passes through sections of other official trails. These include 'Super Balade 4 - Tour et détours à Bordeaux Lac', 'Super Balade 3 - Paysages de Jalles', 'ReVE 3 - Bordeaux - Parempuyre', 'Le Tour de Gironde à Vélo - Étape 6 (Blaye - Bordeaux)', and 'Voie Verte Bordeaux - Lacanau Océan'.
Given that the trail traverses both natural areas and modern urban developments, including the Ginko district and areas around Bordeaux Lake, it is highly probable that you will find cafes, restaurants, and public restrooms in the vicinity of the urban sections and points of interest like the Parc Floral or Bordeaux Lake beach.
Very beautiful hike which allowed us to discover Lake Bordeaux in a different light and then the Barail reserve. In the latter, you have to take your time to wander around. Nice encounter with different birds. Discovery of a torrent. It felt like we were in a mountainous landscape 😉. Along the way, a shaded area with tables to stop for lunch, opposite the rose garden. To go to the starting point, take tram C towards Parc des Expositions. Nice hike 😊
