Hello Komoot`ler, a hike on the local mountain of Calpe, the 332m high Penyal d'Ifac, is very demanding, because strictly speaking it is a via ferrata. It begins very harmlessly and then gets really exhausting after the tunnel. Up was once again easier for me than down. This was a real highlight for the first Advent. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penyal_d%E2%80%99Ifac
Super nice hike! The paths are alpine and require appropriate footwear. The rocks in the area of the paths are extremely smooth and slippery. The view is awesome!
A beautiful hike to the top of Penya d'ifac. Children and young people should only be taken as far as the tunnel. After that it becomes alpine in places. This means that rope or chain safety devices and the markings should be carefully observed.
🏖️ The city of Calpe is not only known for its beautiful beaches, it also offers a wide variety of outdoor activities throughout the year... and one of them is the ascent to the top of Penyal d'Ifac. ⛰️ El Penyal is located inside the Natiral Park of the same name and rises imposingly at 330 meters above sea level and if there is something that you are guaranteed from the top it is the best 360 degree and panoramic views of the city, its beaches... and beyond 👀 ! 🥾 The ascent is carried out by the so-called "red path" that alludes to the color with which it has been marked. It is a very picturesque journey with panoramic views throughout the journey, although you must be very aware of your steps because the precipice is very close in several sectors. 🆙 The path begins with a settled surface with a path in perfect condition and allows you to reach the first viewpoint and the well-known tunnel on the rock that allows passage to the other side with the help of chains on both sides. ⚠️ Here the first clarification, the surface of the tunnel is made of the same stone that has been cut and with the passage of people and the water it has been polished and in some sections you will feel that it slips. Well, if this gives you a feeling of insecurity or frightens you, keep in mind that later on there will be several more sections like this and since most of it runs through the shady side (shady side) these sections will be wet and very slippery. We have seen people (of all ages) slipping and someone hurting their leg, so keep this in mind and be careful, evaluate your own situation and those who accompany you. I do not want to say that it is impossible or that it is prohibited, but that you have to be very careful and remember that the same path of ascent is for the descent, which for many can be even more physically demanding. 🦮 Although it is allowed to go with a pet, keep in mind that the trail is complicated and on several occasions you will need both your hands or even do some rock climbing that will require freedom of movement. Your dog will have no problems and if you are not used to walking with your pet on this type of path, perhaps it is best not to take it. ⛓️ On the way there will be everything you can imagine and the most complicated sections will have the assistance of chains and surely the hand of a hiker you cross. Enjoy the road, it is very entertaining and picturesque, go without rush, the important thing is to get there! 📷 And what to say about the top, enjoy the views because they are really worth it and a lot!!! I recommend you go up on a clear day to be able to fully enjoy the whole path and especially the top. Plan your departure to go and return at a suitable time, bring water because there will be no fountain on the way and wear suitable footwear, many underestimate it but the surface really requires appropriate footwear with good lateral grip and a sole that is not smooth!!! 🤩 Personally, I think it is one of the most beautiful areas of Alicante that deserves to be visited at any time of the year, even in the middle of January on a day like today you can enjoy the beach.
Danger. Registration required prior to mountain climbing. Failure to register could result in a fine of between €600 and €6,000.
The huge rock in Calpe looks very impressive, you have to go up there..... So we got the necessary permit online yesterday evening and set off today. Luckily there are lots of free parking spaces in Calpe, a good start. The hiking trail is well developed at the beginning, but from the rock tunnel onwards it becomes much more difficult. In places you have to climb a bit, the stones are very slippery.... the sign saying that the path is very dangerous is not entirely unjustified. The path itself was not that bad, but there was a lot of oncoming traffic, which sometimes led to waiting times..... Not really our thing, just like the tireless loud chatter of some hiking groups..... Nevertheless, it was a great experience, the views are fantastic and when you can see where you have been from the beach below, that's something special.
