Kirchwege and Zwischenahner Meer – themed bike Tours in Ammerland

Also today there was again a nice round even to Westerstede. It worked again. On beautiful paths, through forest and meadows and through the grounds of the tree nurseries. Wonderful driving by numbers again. The weather is great. 👍

So today we went around the Zwischenahnermeer lake. We had to check out the small open-air museum! We learned a lot there! The weather held out too! Nice walk 😁

Today on the Ammerland Route "Church Paths and Zwischenahner Meer." Starting at Westerstede's market square, we headed to Zwischenahner Meer, then along the old church path from Westerstede to Gießelhorst, then along the particularly beautiful northern church path around Zwischenahner Meer, and then along the Torsholter church path through Südholz. Mostly on very scenic paths, away from the roads. The tour was therefore very relaxed. The tour concluded at the Blumenberg ice cream parlor in Westerstede. 🍨

“Kirchwege and Zwischenahner Meer” Today we went on a signposted theme tour. We first went from Bad Zwischenahn over great paths and roads with little traffic and then past Ohrwege and Torsholt to Westerstede. But it wasn’t the places that made this tour special, but the paths. The paths through the forests, the fields, meadows and tree nurseries until we got back to Zwischenahner Meer. After we had almost completely circled it again, we went briefly to the “Wurstmühle” (Rügenwalder Mühle) and into Bad Zwischenahn’s town center. All in all, a very nice, relaxed tour through the beautiful Ammerland, which we will certainly remember fondly.

This morning, after the rain, we set off on our fifth little holiday bike tour. It went from Bad Zwischenahn Specken via Torsholt to the market square in Westerstede. We were able to enjoy a latte macchiato outside in Cafe Ewen. Then we went back to the sea via Gießelhorst and Rostrup gliding airfield. Another lovely little tour that wasn't just on asphalt this time.

You have to take advantage of the nice weather when you are on vacation. So wheel out, tighten like an onion, because it's already cold and then kicked off. It's always fun to explore the area by bike, you can feel the air, hear and smell the area and see little things along the way that you normally don't pay attention to. We started in Westerstede via Mansie, towards Rostrup, Bad Zwischenahn. There a lap around the Zwischenahner Meer. They are all easy to ride, always flat bike paths. These lead past beautiful landscaped nurseries, with well-cut trees and plants. In sections it went over the Kirchweg from Gießelhorst to Westerstede.

At the end of our North Sea tour, a detour to Ammerland and the Zwischenahner Meer. The circular route around the Zwischenahner Meer is very easy to drive, but is relatively narrow. Due to the weather there was relatively little "traffic" on the way. On (other) weekends or sunny days we would not recommend this path for a bike ride because of the large number of pedestrians and bicycles. From the Zwischenahner Meer we "turned" to Westerstede in the Ammerland. On beautiful paths we were able to admire the diverse plants and shrubs from the tree nurseries - it looks magnificent. A highlight of this tour would certainly be when the rhododendrons are in bloom, when these huge bushes and hedges unfold their colours.
