This route was planned by komoot.
End of August 24. And after two unsuccessful attempts due to snow I finally completed this tour (despite a road blocked by construction, easily bypassed). The first half of the tour takes place on comfortable terrain, even brand new in the final part with a tiring climb and constant gradient. Once you reach the Jorio refuge and the pass I recommend not returning along the crests but using the same path to go down to the Giovo pass. This is to avoid very exposed sections. From here I closed the ring following a very rough and slow path that I do not recommend (unless you have good technique). Some very beautiful points, for the rest the climb takes place in the woods sheltered from the scorching sun. 7 5%
Descent from the Giovo refuge on scree, shin guards recommended
Voting round: 8 MTB: eMTB Portage:⚠️1h 30min and in some stretches very difficult Physical effort:9 Emotion: 8 Landscape:8 Notes: ⚠️The portage/push (see photo) not easy a bit due to lack of markers and the complexity of the passages but the result repays the effort and the risks
Comparable to the Tremalzo Trail but without people 😎👍
The tour starts in Domaso and from Gravedona, heads uphill to the Mottafoida Refuge. This variant takes you through a shady chestnut forest. At the former military post in Giovo, the route continues to the Jorio Refuge. Turn left onto the old military road (now a mule track) toward Dongo. From Stazzone, follow the St. Anna Trails to Dongo and return along the lake to Domaso.
Dongo-Garzeno: paved road with a view, ideal for warming up 💪. Then normal people take a right and then go down the military road on the left. Instead I went up to the left on the military one, suffering a bit from the stony uphill surface, hard after the locality of Doss. Ref. Giovo-Ref. Jorio: good cemented surface with easy climb for pedal assisted bikers. From the Jorio Refuge go up to the San Jorio church to enjoy the view on both sides. Back to ref. Jorio where the Tuscan managers will be able to refresh any palate, with very good craft beer. Possibility of recharging for the weakest. Quick descent to Giovo, opposite starts a path to Alpe Stazzona... very enjoyable, with mountain pastures. Then a dirt road to rejoin the Giovo road. Then took the detour on the ref. Mottafoiada and subsequently Alpe Bascerino. Then quick, jump, quick, jump. But be careful ⚠️ take the path on the left with indication Sciee, a long single track up to Brienzo
Beautiful ride. The first part back down is very difficult. Had to get off several times.
Nice tour definitely better the other way around than I did it.
