Chatsworth House

Highlight • Viewpoint

Chatsworth House is like something from a period drama. In fact, it was the filming location for Mr Darcy’s Pemberley home in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Standing proudly amid rolling hills with the River Derwent meandering gently by, it is a stunning sight. The 17th-century house contains works of art that span 4,000 years. The 105-acre garden, designed by Joseph Paxton, is equally famous. With historic waterworks, sculptures, a Victorian rock garden, a maze, plus more, there is a lot to explore.

The café serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Cakes and drinks are available all the time.
Shop and café open 9:00 - 17:00. Breakfast served 9:00 - 11:30. Lunch served 12:00 - 15:00. Afternoon tea from 15:00.

Hardwick Inn

Highlight (Segment) • Restaurant

A pleasant ride through the grounds of Hardwick passing the 16th Century house and the remains of the old hall. It can get busy with cars entering and leaving the grounds during busy periods such as school holidays and late afternoon on weekends but other than that the only thing to watch out for are the cattle and sheep that graze on the land, but they are very friendly. The Hardwick Inn at the bottom of the hill is well worth a stop for refreshments too.
