The route up to the Seerenbach Falls is also suitable for beginners. After reaching the peak (710m elevation), it descends very steeply. Surefootedness, sturdy shoes with a tread, and strong knees (mine aren't 😬) are recommended. For those with knee problems, I would recommend the reverse route: a steep climb for about an hour, followed by a leisurely descent. I would do it that way... next time!
The return journey by scheduled boat takes 45 minutes (CHF 14.30).
It was wonderful to wake up in Quinten after a great dinner, accompanied by impressive Quintner wines, and to experience the morning atmosphere on Lake Walen, bordered by sunlit mountains. The breakfast was in no way inferior to everything. A big thank you to Johnny and Alain for the great care in Tremondi. Then a tough climb and slow descent to Betlis with the highest waterfalls in Switzerland (Seerenbach Falls 600m) and to the shore of the lake. Along the road to Weesen and after a cool beer in almost summer temperatures, we took the bus and train home.
Today I did the first tour of the 2022 season. The route above Lake Walen has been on my list for a while. I started in the best weather in Weesen am See. The path initially runs along an asphalt road. In Betlis the path climbs slowly, at the chapel above the view is magnificent. From there, the signpost goes left up to the Seerenbach Falls. A very impressive spectacle, you should take the detour of a few minutes. The path to Quinten then goes steadily up and down, much in the forest with a magnificent view of the turquoise blue lake. 🤩 Before the fork in the road, the path climbs noticeably again, but is easily doable. When descending to Quinten, I then also realize why the path is marked red/white 😂 The path goes down steeply, there is some scree in the way and in between it is also difficult to cross. People who are afraid of lizards or blindworms should avoid the path ☝️🤣
3 hours in total, to Quinten by boat (very nice!), very strenuous and steep at the beginning but probably better than walking the part downhill, Quinten is really cute and a really great hike, from Weesen or Fli the bus runs every half hour
Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required for the steep descent to Quinten. Otherwise they are easy, wide paths. Again and again with a wonderful view of Lake Walen and the surrounding mountains. Sunny hike with alternating forest sections and in between you can admire the beautiful Seerenbach waterfall 🥰
Good morning Jakob, thank you for your kind words, and have a good start to the week. Best regards, Alexandra
I took advantage of the last nice day for a nice short hike. The climb to Quinten did require a few drops of sweat :-)
