When the weather was nice, we did the "Burgenpatt" circular route in Lüdinghausen in Münsterland. Quite nice, no elevation gain, according to Komoot 20 (!) in around 10 km. A fairly leisurely route. 2 nice castles to look at.
Last day of vacation. I took advantage of the fantastic weather in the afternoon to hike the next Landstreifer. I already knew some of it, but it didn't matter. It's a really beautiful route with some sunken paths, the rippling waters of the Stever and the autumnal forest. There are also Lüdinghausen Castle and Vischering Castle. There are places to stop for refreshments at the castle, as well as the Cafe Indigo. And with that, unfortunately, the vacation is over again 🍂
The new “Burgenpatt” circular hiking trail leads to the Lüdinghausen and Vischering castles, along popular Lüdinghausen walking paths such as the Philosophenpättken and the Karnickeldamm and to the lake idyll of the Klutensee. The 9.5 kilometer long circular path connects the castles in a large arc through the Berenbrock and Elvert farming communities Lüdinghausen and Vischering and leads on small paths between meadows and fields and also along the water for a while through the rural idyll. It is signposted as the “Landstreifer” hiking trail in the Hohe Mark Nature Park.
A tour from the book: DUMONT Hiking Time in Münsterland.. But 🙈: See picture! Out of habit, I walked straight behind the rabbit dam to the castle. It wasn't until I got to the castle that I realized this tour should continue left behind the rabbit dam along the Stever.🤷♀️ Running Together 🤝 Helping Together 💚 A good 12 hours left until the finale of our campaign 💚 for the outpatient children's and youth hospice service! The Burgenpatt - Lüdinghausen 10.4km Absolute highlight in Münsterland A recent family adventure was on the agenda. This time the destination was the town of Lüdinghausen, with the #burgvieschering and the #burglüdinghausen, in the middle of beautiful Münsterland. From the car park we walked a little way through the town until we reached Lüdinghausen Castle. A beautiful moated castle, which is definitely worth a visit. For us, however, we didn't go in, but around the castle. There were still some wonderful views of the complex. We crossed the road briefly and then went along a dirt road directly to the next highlight, the Klutensee. A wonderful quarry lake with a very nice circular hiking trail and lots of places for the furry friends to cool off. For us, after just under half of the circular route, we didn't go any further around the lake, but along a small, narrow path directly to the restaurant @cafe.indigo.luedinghausen where we took our first long break. Refreshed, we slowly got going. After we had walked almost 500m along a side road, the adventure really began. A wonderful, narrow 2km trail through dense 🌳 which runs parallel to a stream. After a short break and crossing the road into the forest area opposite, we had to make a quick change. The @schmusekatzenfamily pushed our Ida for the first 5km, now it was my turn. And I was punished for it. What followed was action, adrenaline and fun all at the same time. We walked 2.5km through the middle of the "jungle" The trails were extremely narrow and the roots and slight differences in height made it an absolute challenge to get through with the stroller. In some places there were thick branches on the path that we had to climb over. And on the left side there was a small slope where a stream flowed. I have never sweated so much while running as I did today😀😀😀 It didn't get much better though, the next section was along barely recognizable paths as they were overgrown with grass. Steering the stroller was "semi good"😀 The last 1.5 km were relaxing for everyone involved. We then went along very beautiful but unspectacular field and forest paths, past a wild animal enclosure, which Archie found really interesting, to a small run-off of the Stever, right in front of Vischering Castle. Where canoe trips are normally offered, today Archie was in for absolute bathing fun. Despite 5 hours of running and 10 km in his legs, he completely escalated there again. A dream. We then took our last break at Vischering Castle, also a moated castle from the 13th century. Refreshed, we then went past Lüdinghausen Castle again on the last kilometer before we returned to the car park, overjoyed with the tour. Conclusion 10/10 ⭐️ I have to say, how beautiful the Münsterland is for hiking. We already know the Westruper Heide and we were also impressed by Sythen back then, but this "castle patty" is phenomenal. ⛔️This tour is suitable for all dogs and people if you are a bit trained with hikes and longer distances, as it is completely flat and easy to walk.⛔️ It is not really the best route for strollers, it was really exhausting for me at times, but this landscape and all the history through the 2 castles is breathtaking. Despite the difficulties, we don't think we have ever had so much fun on a tour and were even able to laugh at ourselves. Out of stupidity, of course 😀😀😀😀 I can really only recommend that everyone walk this castle path if you are from nearby or are on holiday there. This route has everything a hiking trail could wish for. You have 2 moated castles for the cultural hikers among you, you have plenty of water, bathing and cooling off options for your furry friends. Plus this incredibly varied route. Whether you prefer the narrow sloping paths through the 🌳, the overgrown paths along fields, or perhaps the fantastic trails along the Stever, or the beautiful circular routes on the tour, everyone will definitely get their money's worth here. You also have many places to stop for a break on the tour, so it's a perfect day trip.
Two castles and their parkland, nature and culture, a lakeside idyll, and hiking. A LandStreifer tour like something from another era. Wishing you all a happy Easter! 🐰 Best regards
The "Burgenpatt" country trail, with Vischering Castle and Lüdinghausen Castle, is always beautiful, and so hiking guide @Uwe & Geli is drawn back to Lüdinghausen again this year. To keep things interesting for the seasoned hikers, we park at the castle (not the castle) this time and hike the loop in the opposite direction. So, straight to the lake. Spring is just around the corner. The days are noticeably longer again, and the sun is gaining strength. We enjoy these moments of nature's caress at every opportunity. We decide to take our break in the small hut by the wayside. It offers enough space for all eight of today's hikers. With the three benches around the table, it's a luxurious rest stop, which our two guides crown with small bottles of sweet and sour drinks to kick off the carnival season. At Vischering Castle, the area around the stone oven bakery is already crowded again, so we join the queue for the delicious bread. Loaded down, we continue on our way. One last detour to the old mill and we're back at the parking lot.
