This route was planned by komoot.
Just 12 km from the city of Girona, Banyoles is the largest freshwater lake in Catalonia, naturally fed by underground channels. It is a very attractive destination to spend the day, especially in summer, when walks in the shade of the branches of the trees along the water can be combined with boat trips, canoeing or swimming. The water from the lake is channeled through the entire city through small streams, irrigating the orchards of the Sant Esteve monastery. The local tourist office, easily found on the south side of the lake, is a good place to start your day and ask for information about the area, including maps, and they can point you in the right direction depending on how you prefer to spend your time (walking , activities, relax, etc.). Office hours are 10:00 a.m. at 7:30 p.m. every day.
The lake of Banyoles is the largest in Catalonia and a beautiful path goes around the lake. On the path, part of which goes along a road, there are always viewing platforms that allow wonderful views of the lake.
Complete return to Banyoles lake. Precious !!! For all levels.
Improvised walk in the rain as an alternative to the route we had planned, aborted by the falling showers at the start and the state in which the forest and roads must have been. However, going around the Banyoles lake from time to time is always a joy, and the atmosphere created by the rain makes it even more attractive. A good alternative.
Nice and pleasant walk after a good meal, simple pleasant surroundings and very flat, to reduce a little what we have eaten and feel a little justified.
Easy and beautiful return to the Banyoles pond, you can park next to the lake and in the shade of some plane trees and oaks... and sleep in the caravan quietly. Banyoles is small but the historical case is worth visiting.
