Hiking
The Landstein, which gives the place its name, is a very special church ruin, the former pilgrimage church „Our dear Lady to Landstein“. It serves as the starting and finishing point of this enchanting hike, which combines cultural-historical sights with impressive views of the untouched nature.
This hike was created as a jubilee trail for the 50th anniversary of the Hochtaunuskreis district. Around the Weiltal valley, you will discover, among other things, the castle of Neuweilnau and the castle ruins in neighboring Altweilnau, but also plenty of forest and far-reaching views. In addition, we have incorporated a short detour to the mini-golf facility with regional gastronomy „Zum Louis“ into this tour.
After visiting Neuweilnau with its impressive castle, your path leads you via the Erbismühle to Altweilnau. An ascent will take you to the local castle ruins. From here, you have a great overview of the valley. This is followed by the longest ascent of the entire round, which takes you deep into the peaceful forest. At the highest point stands the venerable Bayrhoffer fountain.
Shortly before the destination, a short detour via steps leads you up to the Roter Mönch (Red Monk). This wooden carved figure gladly shares its seat and the beautiful view with you. Shortly thereafter, you will already reach your starting point again.
