Tour in the Oglio Nord Park from Soncino to Castelvisconti and back. About 25% of the route runs on normal roads, very little traffic on Sundays, the remainder on single tracks, dirt roads and a few paved cycle paths Leaving the car in the supermarket parking lot just outside the town, you enter Soncino, with its beautiful Rocca Sforzesca and adjacent medieval village. After crossing the town, head towards the bridge over the Oglio river, from where the route starts. In this period the single tracks are nice and clean, but I imagine that in the summer period there may be brambles on the edges of the paths. On the way I went along the left bank of the Oglio river. On the way back, at a certain point you have to leave the path because it is interrupted by a rivulet without a bridge. However, continue on the dirt road for the use of the farmhouses. I found the bridge further ahead (I entered waypoints on the track). Crossing it you could reach the path, but it is a bit distant and difficult to reach due to the very rough terrain. Obviously the soils of these areas change morphology over the seasons, so you can check it at the moment. Continuing on the dirt road, skirting the farmhouses, the path resumes a little further on. The only annoyance are the dogs at the entrance of the farms that have a threatening way (can that bark does not bite). Not having to enter the farmhouse, I had no problems. Along the way, I encountered only one water fountain. In the villages there are various bars, but on Sundays they were all closed.
We went to check some routes, because the comments showed some closed sections, and the latest floods of the Oglio have left their mark. Apart from this, the route taken here is really beautiful and in many sections you are on the edge of the Oglio river, we even saw a family of 3 deer. In some places sooner or later the single track will also disappear because it is right on the external curve of the river and the banks will collapse. You cross various protected natural areas and you travel along a piece of the Oglio cycle path (deservedly Green Road Award 2019). Near Azzanello we recommend diverting towards the town and taking the Azzanello and Castelvisconti cycle connection otherwise you arrive at a farmhouse where the path is private, but you only notice it at the end. Route to avoid in the height of summer with lush vegetation because it could be invaded by plants.
