This route was planned by komoot.
At 2,921 meters above sea level, Pic Carlit is the highest peak in Languedoc-Roussillon. We started at Lac de Bouillouses, which is easily accessible by car outside of the high season, when there is supposedly a lot going on there. The path to the actual climb is quite moderate over roots and stones. There is some climbing to do on the way to the summit. Once at the top you have a wonderful view. Today a newlywed couple with a wedding dress in their backpack arrived at the top to take photos with their wedding dress at Gipfgl. Was very funny.
Return to Carlit after four years last time. Since it was a Monday, and still in June, we were able to drive up to the reservoir by car. Good weather and lots of people to be a weekday. The route, long as always, with some changes in the yellow signage at the end. And it lasts, especially between the frozen lake and the summit, with very straight sections of delicate climbing. In fact, they already warn you at the beginning of the climb (see photo). But overall, a great excursion.
