Trail Reviews

Rudolf FREI
May 21, 2023, Rundwanderung im Naturpark "Calanchi di Atri" in den Abruzzen

The town of Atri with about 10,000 inhabitants is located in Abruzzo about 10 km inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The "Calanchi di Atri" are unique geological phenomena that were created by rain-related erosion about 10,000 years ago (also some earth pyramids). The small town is surprisingly rich in history, culture and old buildings: cathedral, theatre, museums, town hall, etc.. The circular hike around the "Calanchi" (almost 6 km and approx. 300 m ascent and descent) is very rewarding in terms of landscape.
