From Bolzano to Merano along the Adige Valley cycle path

A beautiful cycle path along the Adige. There are hardly any meters in altitude to overcome on the route from Meran to Bolzano. The cycle path is very well signposted up to the beginning of Bolzano. However, until you are in the beautiful old town, you have to look for the way or simply ask 😉

The entire route is on a bike path. Everywhere you look there are mountains. The river is always nearby. Vineyards, castles and lots of apples.

Along the Adige cycle path immersed in endless apple fields with a view of the Dolomite group of the Catinaccio on the horizon. Beautiful Merano, Bolzano high level ... that is, very beautiful and interesting

After parking the car in Terlan, we first took the train to Merano and then, after exploring the old town, drove back to Terlan and checked into the hotel. We then drove to Bolzano for sightseeing and dinner and back. Both Merano and the old town of Bolzano were very beautiful 🙂

Relaxed e-bike tour in the green South Tyrol. Today's round tour is actually not a round tour, but a "back and forth tour" 🤷‍♂️. The valley that connects Bolzano with Merano, the Adige Valley, hardly allows any other route choice. Of course you can deviate from the bike path and cycle one way through the villages. But the intense traffic, the many construction sites and the lively commercial-oriented villages do not really invite you to do so. The bike path, on the other hand, leads through a beautiful, very green strip, accompanied by the nice wild river Etsch and orchards. A wonderful piece of nature over many kilometers. There are plenty of resting places along the way and one or the other “Radlerbeiz”. Meran has a nice, well-kept old town center with many restaurants and shops. You can also linger by the river, which is particularly wild here. A nice piece of earth, well. You should allow yourself some time in Merano, there are many little surprises for the visitor. At the end of the tour you drive through the also very nice old town of Bolzano, the right place for a nice aperitif. I can recommend Apérol Spritz, here the "correct" one is made and you definitely don't get a watery version 😊. All in all, a wonderful tour that - apart from Merano - does not really offer much variety, but leads through a beautiful landscape. Away from the hustle and bustle.

A very good developed route. Easy to drive. When we arrived in Bolzano at the cathedral we went for an ice cream and walked through the old town. Then back to Merano. What is a bit unpleasant is that you constantly drive along a green fence that separates the tracks from the bike path. Nevertheless, the Claudia Augusta is a very beautiful route
