This route was planned by komoot.
Very nice hike. I would go early in the morning. Firstly because of the warmth - thank God there is good shade there. Secondly because of the tourists who swarm everywhere from midday onwards. I would choose a different route back, however, and take the path along the river, the way you came.
About 5km long, this trail along the Else river features numerous small waterfalls (and one of around 15 meters) with the river being a luminous blue colour. Along the route there are also several crossings. The river is suitable for swimming and can get quite busy in the middle of summer. The route continues on from the river to the town of Valle di Colle d’Else which has a lower new town and a medieval historical old town much higher up the hill. Kept the latter for another trip. I took this hike from Komoot and it lays out a circular route starting at a car park up stream and then looping back to return along the road. I’d absolutely recommend not walking back along the road which is extremely busy and totally featureless. Instead walk around 2.6k on the river trail and retrace your footsteps back to way you have come, enjoying the sights of the river again.
Magnificent hike!! Especially the first part; the second is on the road... If I had to do it again... I'd do this round-trip hike so as not to leave this fabulous landscape!!
Nice walk along the river with great views. Only problem is it says it's all a trail and keeps telling you it's a trail but you're on the main road with traffic for the second half of the way.
The place could be pleasant, but it is unfortunately very poorly maintained. Extremely busy, it is also very dirty, with a persistent smell that gives the impression of walking along sewers... It is really a shame, because the place has potential. It deserves to be better promoted, whether by the municipality, the State or the Water and Forests Department. As it is, the experience is disappointing even if the river is absolutely magnificent....
The first section along the river is beautiful
The Elsa is a 63 km long river in the Tuscany region, which crosses the Elsa Valley (Italian: Valdelsa) from south to north and flows into the Arno at Empoli. The water is turquoise, crystal clear and rich in minerals, on top of that it is very healthy for the skin ... By the way, I tried it ... My skin is young again 😂 Today we hiked a small section in Colle de Val d'Elsa 😊 We both agree that we've never seen a more beautiful river Fluss It was so nice, although - at 40 degrees - we almost melted 🥵 If anyone of you comes to this area, be sure to do it ... you will regret it 😘 And finally a few pictures of us at home ... In Tuscany 😉
