August 18, 2024, Aira Force & Gowbarrow Fell loop — Lake District National Park

a really enjoyable circular route with incredible views from the start, suitable for all abilities (with the correct footwear) just be aware it can get very busy!

A baby-carrying hike up to Gowbarrow. The ascent path is much more rugged and rocky than the descent so for an easier walk you could do an 'out and back' along the descent path. Pay and display parking in the National Trust car park as well as toilets and a baby-change. The cafe was closed due to staffing shortages. This area gets very busy in school holidays.

Very nice walk thank you. Path around the back was defiantly worth taking and would have probably missed it with out your mapping. Cheers.

Aira Force Falls were very busy with people but as soon as we left the falls, the trail was quiet.. The last 1/4 of the walk was absolutely spectacular with picture postcard views for the whole way back to the carpark. The path that runs parallel with the lake is exceptional.. you actually dont need to reach the summit of Gowbarrow to get the incredible views (although the view from the top is very good).. Best walk we've done all week!

If you want to experience the beauty of the Lake District National Park, this walk is a must. It's incredibly diverse, with forests, waterfalls, and breathtaking views of Ullswater from the summit and during the descent.

Great hike. Beautiful scenery Very muddy in places.

This the same walk described on the NT: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/aira-force-and-ullswater/trails/aira-force-and-gowbarrow-trail

A relatively easy fell walk, just over 2 hrs, 4.5 miles. Fantastic 360' views from the summit. Easy to follow path. Suitable walking boots or Trail shoes should be worn.
