Der Puntleider See in der Gemeinde Franzensfeste liegt auf 1.847 Metern in einer Senke knapp unterhalb der Waldgrenze und doch inmitten eines subalpinen Nadelmischwaldes. Er gilt als einer der ursprünglichsten Bergseen Südtirols. Er ist wunderschön und als geschütztes Naturdenkmal ein beliebtes Wanderziel.
