The succession of lakes in the opposite direction to what the majority of hikers do is a real eye-opener 🤩 Be careful, departure at 9am from the paid parking lot 🅿️ and we were far from being the first!

Lake Aumar, which adjoins Lake Aubert, offers a superb picture from its barges, since it highlights the peaks of Néouvielle and Ramougn. A Pyrenean show par excellence.

A superb hike that will make you discover three lakes. Magnificent landscapes. The beginning of the hike begins with a glimpse of Lake Orédon then you continue on a beautiful stair climb that will take you to Lake Laquettes. Then a few hundred meters further you can rest on the Lac d'Aubert. A beautiful lake perfect for resting and enjoying the day, eating a snack etc... If you wish, you can continue your way to the upper lake located on your left behind the mountain or you can start the descent to the lakes of Orédon. Beware of the last descent, it sends heavy in the joints.

Refuge is not always open. Bring plenty of water or park at the lake. Bus stop is also there. Nice walk from Lac d'Oredon. Very touristy.

The region around Sers, located in the Néouvielle massif of the French Pyrenees, features a diverse range of lakes. You'll find natural mountain lakes, artificial dam lakes, and interconnected pond systems, all fed by snowmelt and mountain streams. The landscape offers everything from large reservoirs to smaller, often seasonal, pools.
Among the lakes, Lake Orédon is noted as the most accessible, with a car park installed directly on its banks. While this can lead to crowds during high season, its fjord-like appearance, with mountains steeply entering its waters, makes it a unique and impressive sight.
Yes, near Lake Orédon, you'll find a refuge/bar and a bivouac area, which are convenient for overnight stays or a break. Additionally, the Coubous cabin, an open and unguarded refuge, is located at 2,041 meters on the edge of Lac Dets Coubous, offering space for 4-5 people.
Les Laquettes are groups of small ponds and pools situated below Lac d'Aubert at an altitude of 2,085 meters. These wetlands are irrigated by winter snow and overflow from surrounding lakes, creating a beautiful, unique landscape, though they can dry up in summer.
Absolutely. Lac d'Aubert is located at an altitude of 2,148 meters, serving as a stunning mirror for Hourquette d'Aubert and fed by small glaciers. Lac Dets Coubous is another high-altitude lake at 2,041 meters.
The area around Sers is excellent for various outdoor activities. You can explore numerous routes for mountain biking, road cycling, and gravel biking. For example, there are challenging MTB routes like the Tourmalet Pass – Oncet Lake loop, and moderate road cycling routes such as the 'On the descent from the Tourmalet' loop. You can find more details on these activities in the MTB Trails around Sers, Road Cycling Routes around Sers, and Gravel biking around Sers guides.
Yes, many lakes offer spectacular views. Lac d'Aubert has an orientation table to help identify the surrounding peaks, including the Néouvielle peak. Lake Aumar, adjoining Lac d'Aubert, provides a superb picture with the peaks of Néouvielle and Ramougn in the background.
Visitors frequently praise the stunning natural beauty and the diverse aquatic landscapes. Many describe areas like Les Laquettes as 'splendid' and reminiscent of Canada. The overall experience of exploring the mountain lakes and their surrounding scenery is highly appreciated by the komoot community.
While there is a bivouac area near Lake Orédon, it's important to note that wild camping is generally not permitted in the reserve areas. For instance, near Lake Aumar, camping for the night is not allowed due to its location within the reserve.
The lakes are fed by snowmelt and mountain streams, and some wetlands like Les Laquettes can dry up in summer. Therefore, late spring to early autumn (roughly June to September) is generally the best time to visit when the lakes are full and the weather is most favorable for outdoor activities. Winter access may be limited due to snow.
Yes, there are popular hiking routes that allow you to discover several lakes. One such route mentioned by visitors starts with a glimpse of Lake Orédon, continues to Les Laquettes, and then to Lac d'Aubert. You can often extend these hikes to other upper lakes or use them as starting points for descents.
