The dynamite factory was built as far away as possible from the arch-enemy Prussia. Today a nature reserve, only a few buildings remain to remind us of this past.

Beautiful little sandy bay, nestled between vineyards that reach down to the sea, and with a beach bar.

In Collioure, the Kings of Mallorca had their summer residence. They resided here when it was too hot for them in Perpignan. Under Louis XIV, Vauban fortified the royal palace in his inimitable style and built the impressive fortified church with its meter-thick walls. At the beginning of the 20th century, it attracted many artists, including Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, and Pablo Picasso. No wonder, as there are plenty of worthwhile subjects here.
