The Customs Officers’ Path – GR 34 between Erquy and Saint-Malo
From 1905 to 1948, the train made a stop there between Saint-Brieuc and Moncontour. The inhabitants of the Grèves used it frequently to get around and transport goods, particularly bricks produced by the nearby factory. It was called the "Petit train des Côtes-du-Nord", the former name of the department, because there was only 1 m spacing between its rails compared to 1.435 m on a normal track.

Plage du Guen is part of the protected landscape surrounding Cap d'Erquy. Nestled between gently rolling heathland slopes, this unspoiled beach reveals its tranquil, pristine side. Fine, pale sand and the changing colors of the sea dominate the landscape, while heather, broom, and pine trees grow in the hinterland. At low tide, rocks and small tidal pools emerge, and the expansive view across the bay extends all the way to Cap Fréhel. Since the beach is only accessible via narrow paths and lacks any tourist infrastructure, it remains a quiet spot—ideal for hikes, nature observation, and moments of tranquility by the sea.

Saint-Guirec beach is picturesquely situated among the pink granite cliffs of the Côte de Granit Rose (Pink Granite Coast). Highlights include the Saint-Guirec Oratory on the beach with its marriage legend, a small chapel nearby, the Château de Costaérès offshore, and the GR34 coastal hiking trail, which runs directly along the beach and offers spectacular views.

The fine sandy beach slopes gently into the turquoise sea, inviting you to linger. At low tide, a fascinating mudflat area is revealed. On the shore stands the small oratory of Saint-Guirec, a chapel to which pilgrims have flocked for centuries to pray for the safety of sailors or to seek a husband. The stone statue standing there today dates from 1904.

The Greenway - and the Percée Viaduct - a fascinating story, which can be read on the information panels and is very interesting to me. Here's a translation of Vaduz: Like elegant young ladies striding over the valleys of the Lilliputian kingdom, at the beginning of the 20th century, nine viaducts, including the Parfond de Gouët Viaduct, with their beautiful brick arches, stretched along the very first railway line of the local network, St. Brieuc - Plouha. These engineering structures, built by a native of the region, Louis Harel de La Noë (1852-1931), a bridge and road engineer, allowed the small train of the Côtes-du-Nord to follow the winding and steep coastline without much effort. Lightness and elegance are the words that come to mind when describing the architecture of this 1903 building, characterized by numerous columns and arched vaults and its masonry in warm brick colors. The techniques used demonstrate boldness, ingenuity, and originality: reinforced concrete anchors (rebars) were installed to increase the compressive strength of the pillars and prevent cracks.

A great detour to Saint Aignan, the Les Pêcheries de Guerlédan restaurant is very welcoming, with bike parking, a generous meal and welcome. Crossing the village, you can reach the canal a little further on via the lock.
