The Heilenbecker Reservoir is the oldest drinking water reservoir in Southwestphalia. The historic gravity dam was built between 1894 and 1896 according to the designs of the well-known Aachen professor Otto Intze. It is nestled in the wooded nature on the border between the towns of Ennepetal and Breckerfeld in the Ennepe-Ruhr district (North Rhine-Westphalia).

The dam can be wonderfully integrated into larger tours, for example in combination with the nearby Ennepe valley or an ascent to the Klütinger Alm.

The Ennepe originates in the Märkischer Kreis southeast of the town of Halver at an altitude of 425 m above sea level and is dammed in the town area of Breckerfeld to form the Ennepetalsperre (307 m above sea level). Its further course leads through Ennepetal, Gevelsberg and the western Hagen district of Haspe, before it flows into the Volme near Hagen main station in the Eckesey district at about 100 m above sea level, which in turn flows into the Ruhr shortly thereafter in Hagen-Vorhalle. The upper course of the Ennepe up to the Ennepetalsperre is predominantly rural, while below the dam, settlement use clearly predominates. In the lower course, its discharge is influenced by the Ennepetalsperre. https://ruhrverband.de/fluesse-seen/fluesse-baeche/ennepe/ https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ennepe

Does anyone know if the photo with the sign about overgrown vegetation and the path's poor accessibility is current? I'd be interested to know if the path is in good condition or perhaps no longer passable.
