This long, dark-sanded beach has a well-packed coastal trail which follows the water's edge between the pier and Mori Point. It connects to a great network of trails along the ocean on the south side of town.

This isn't the sort of road you'd take a vehicle on, nowadays - but it's great for nontechnical mountain biking, and this high point gives you nice views over the surrounding hills.

The city of San Francisco sprawls out before you to the north, offering an epic panoramic view of the Marin Headlands, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and all of San Fran's iconic landmarks. The overlook gets its name from 100+ foot tall Christmas trees that were erected here in the late 1920s, before a living tree elsewhere in the city was chosen as the holiday's mascot.

You get a great view of this little reservoir as you ride by, especially when heading north. The reservoir has been around for well over 150 years. There are bike lanes on both sides of Laguna Honda Boulevard.

October 26, 2023, Golden Gate Bridge

When you think of the iconic features of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the first things that comes to mind. This impressive suspension bridge links the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County, with fantastic views of the city, marina and Crissy Field. It’ is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States, putting it at the top of many cyclist's bucket lists. While crossing, you can gaze up at the towering beams above or look down into the deep waters of the San Francisco Strait below you as sailboats drift by in the mouth of the Bay. Traveling along the Bridge can be cold, windy, and foggy, even in the summer, so dress appropriately. At the south end, you can purchase a souvenir at the Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion and visit the cafΓ© next to the visitor center. Restrooms are at both the north and south ends, and cyclists have toll-free access to the Bridge's sidewalks 24 hours a day. A bike ride across this extraordinary Bridge is an adventure you don't want to miss!
