The history of the Syker Vorwerk goes back to an agricultural farm that was founded in 1580 at Friedeholz in Syke. Its task was to supply the garrison of the Syker Castle, a two-storey moated castle with a moat. After the Thirty Years' War, the castle buildings were extremely dilapidated and so the demolition of the fortress was ordered in 1633. An intensive construction phase began with the office building built in 1728/29 and the brewery built in 1736 on the farm grounds. While the residential building, which was built on the site of the former castle in 1709, remained the residence of the bailiff, the bailiffs lived on the farm from 1730 onwards. The renovation of the administrative buildings on the castle grounds began in 1738. The overall plan of the farm already shows eleven buildings in 1764.
