FRANCISCAN CHURCH, Ljubljana
The image of Prešeren Square is mainly characterized by the Franciscan monastery with the Church of the Annunciation. The Augustinians lived there until the end of the 18th century. The church was built between 1646 and 1660, its facade was completed around 1700, rebuilt in the 19th century and renovated in 1993. Above the facade stands a copper statue of the Virgin Mary, the largest statue of her in the city.

The church is decorated with a monumental high altar by the sculptor Francesco Robba, which was built in the mid-18th century. In the mid-19th century, the interior of the church was painted with frescoes by Matevž Langus. The interior acquired its current appearance after the earthquake of 1895. The ceiling of the church was painted with frescoes by Matej Sternen between 1935 and 1936. Plečnik's cross is located in a special chapel.

Robba's Fountain / Robbov vodnjak of Ljubljana
FOUNTAIN OF THE THREE CARNIVORIANS RIVERS - THE ROBBA FOUNTAIN
The Fountain of the Three Carniola Rivers on the edge of the Town Square (Mestni trg), also known as the "Robba's Fountain", is one of the most famous Baroque monuments in Ljubljana. It was created in 1743-51 by the Venetian sculptor and architect Francesco Robba (1698-1757). The artist from Venice spent most of his life in Ljubljana and is considered the best stone master of Ljubljana's Baroque period.
The fountain was modeled on famous Roman fountains. The three figures of river gods on the fountain probably symbolize three rivers of Carniola: Sava, Ljubljanica and Krka. In plan, the fountain has the shape of a trefoil or old city seal. The fountain was Robba's last work in the city. After the fountain was completed, the artist, who had become impoverished by then, moved to Zagreb.

The newly built market complex was conceived as a series of market halls along the Ljubljanica River. Slovenian products are offered here. Here is also the fish market. I have also seen dried meat products, fresh meat, home-baked bread and cheese, as well as dried fruits and various olive oils, which are offered here to the clientele.

Ljubljana Old Town

Highlight • Settlement

Ljubljana TOWN HALL
The old town hall, which houses the seat of the Ljubljana Municipality, was built in the late 15th century by Peter Bezlaj. The building acquired its current appearance in 1717-19, when it was extended by the architect Gregor Maček Sr. according to plans by Carlo Martinuzzi. The town hall was later rebuilt several times. The most extensive reconstruction took place in 1963 according to plans by Svetozar Križaj.
The front facade shows Venetian influence. In the vestibule, a late Gothic plaque with a coat of arms has been preserved as a remnant of the old building, as well as a late 17th century statue of Hercules with a lion that once stood on the Hercules fountain on Stari trg square. In the courtyard arcades there is also a Narcissus fountain, a work by the sculptor Francesco Robba, which was originally located in the Bokalce Castle. Next to the stairs is a monument to Mayor Ivan Hribar (1851-41).

Ljubljana farmers-market is a must visit for tourists, especially on Saturday mornings. Its just a few steps away from Tromostovje (Triple) Bridge, so it's all basically just in the same place and you can do it all (together with the entire old medieval part of town) in a couple of hours. Most visitors love it, as it's a piece of history, preserved against odds, till today's very different times.
