The bridge over the Selška Sora, built in the middle of the 14th century from hewn stone in a semicircular shape, is one of the oldest monuments of its kind in Central Europe. In 1888 it was restored and equipped with an iron fence, and in its center a statue of St. John of Nepomuk with the Loka coat of arms was placed on a pedestal. In the Middle Ages, the Selška Gate with a watchtower stood next to the bridge.

St. James's Church (St. Jakobskirche)

Highlight • Religious Site

The St. Jakobskirche was built in the 15th century in the late Gothic style.

The frescoes inside were painted in the 16th century by a local artist named Jernej.

The altars and chandeliers were restored by Jože Plečnik, a famous Slovenian architect.

Enjoy a few moments in Cankar Square and snap some photos. There is also a 3D metal relief of the city in front of the church.

Loški Castle

Highlight • Castle

The original castle was built by the bishops of Freising in 1202. In 1511, the castle was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake. Bishop Phillip let them rebuild. In the castle courtyard stood an impressive four-edged tower, whose ground plan was restored. Today, the castle is home to one of the finest museums in Slovenia, with archaeological, historical, cultural, artistic, scientific and ethnological collections. Visitors can also visit the excellently preserved 16th century farmhouse, the Škopar House (Škoparjeva hiša)

Pasja Ravan Weather Radar

Highlight • Monument

Once with the title of the highest peak in the Polhov Gradec hills, Pasja ravan lost altitude in the last century during Yugoslavia due to the construction work of the Yugoslav Army 9 meters thick. Only this one built a rocket launch site on the mentioned peak. (interesting)
Today, a weather radar is set up at this location.
Due to the overgrowing of plants and trees, the view from the top around the surroundings is currently quite limited, despite its height.
To view.

When you start climbing the trail, as soon as you are in the forest, select a lighter gear so that you can use a higher cadence to overcome the climb where there is poor grip.

Edit In 973 Emperor Otto II granted Škofja Loka dominion to the bishops of Freising, and for the next thousand years the town's history was intertwined with that of the distant ecclesiastical principality. [8] [9] A castle and tower were built over the city for defensive purposes, which later became the residence of the episcopal governor. In the 11th or 12th century. Emperor Otto III. gave the bishops the right to mint coins and levy duties. Škofja Loka was first mentioned in 1248 as a town with market rights and in 1274 with town rights.
