With its green tower and red roof, the quite young church shapes the village scene. The old school in Hollenstede, converted and extended into an emergency church in 1920, made way for the present-day church "St. Marien" in 1928. The altar was donated to the congregation by the town of Osterode am Harz. Some parts were added by the sculptor Mensing from Fürstenau. The pulpit, the triumphal cross, as well as another cross, of which only the corpus of Christ remains in the cemetery chapel, also come from Osterode. The Romanesque sandstone baptismal font of the Bentheim type, which probably stood in the Schwagstorfer chapel from around 1250 to 1728, was installed in the St. Marien church in 1729 after restoration work.

This is not Pottebruch, but Lengericher Weg. This section of Lengericher Weg through the forest was paved by forced laborers during World War II. The paving stones are preserved beneath the asphalt.
