Beautiful little old town with hidden pubs, always something going on in the evenings.

The old town of Krk, the capital of the Croatian island of Krk, is surrounded by ancient city walls and is a center of history and culture with picturesque streets, squares, historic buildings, and numerous cafes and restaurants. Among the main sights are the 12th-century Frankopan Castle and the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, an early Christian basilica built on Roman foundations. The harbor is a lively place for strolling, separated from the historic city center by the waterfront promenade.

Start at over 30°C at sea level, from an altitude of about 500m, ride in the shade at about 25°C on quiet roads (very nice!). If you're overtaken by a truck in the middle section (road width = about 3.50m), it's best to stop immediately and wait beside the road, as otherwise they'll manage, or try to manage, with about 20cm of clearance...; water requirement: about 4.5 liters (... if you do this often, you'll probably get by with considerably less), ride the lap clockwise, as the climb is longer but not as steep! Good luck!

Cyclists can cross the bridge itself on the pedestrian path (although even this is officially closed...). But, especially on the mainland, the road is extremely dangerous to travel until the next junction, because in Croatia, cyclists are simply ignored by car, bus, and truck drivers! There's no shoulder, and motorized vehicles don't keep a safe distance... life-threatening!!!

A bit steep and long, but really beautiful views. Watch out for roaming horses though
