In order to operate the planned additional service on the currently largely single-track line between Velten and Neuruppin, several sections are needed where trains can meet. One of these is the 6.7-kilometer section between Kremmen and Beetz-Sommerfeld. This will require the relocation of a second track, the modification of three level crossings, the expansion of four crossings, and the construction of two new signal boxes. The new track is designed for speeds of up to 120 km/h. More information about the project can be found at https://www.i2030.de/nordwest/.

The district was created around the middle of the 17th century: a decree from 1659 documented an electoral ban on storing straw and fodder within residential buildings in the city. Because the fire disasters that repeatedly raged in Kremmen and each time reduced almost the entire city to rubble and ash threatened the existence of the population; Seeds, feed supplies, livestock and entire streets in Kremmen fell victim to the flames several times. Thirteen years after this ban, the electoral prince issued instructions to convert existing barns within the city into stables and from then on to only build new barns and warehouses outside the city center. That was the birth of the Scheunenviertel.
