There is a circular walking path that loops around the loch and past the castle ruins. There is also a bird hide for wildlife viewing, fishing access, and a sailing club.

Despite the houses on the horizon, you can see Castle Loch qyite well from this set back, elevated approach. There are signs saying the Loch walk is 3 miles long

The track around the loch has maybe 150 to 200mtrs of jetty, similar to what you get at boat marinas. The earth under the jettys is wet and low level, it looks like marshland. The jettys must be 4ft wide so easy to ride on and pass people with horn warning

Nice part of run through the woods (clockwise direction) and after is an elevated wooden path (with anti slip) pads on it. The whole run is ferly flat and if not after rain the path should be not muddy. After castle ruins there is little bit of tarmac road and footpath on right takes you back to the car park. On that stretch there is few nicely sculptured trees and two piers to observe the beautiful Loch when you're not on the run 😉

Few years back you could visit the ruins. It looks like remains are unstable and the area is fenced off to prevent access.
