An Argentona
August 19, 2026, Clachtoll Beach

The name comes from the Gaelic Clach Toll, "pierced rock", due to an ancient natural stone arch. Just behind it is the campsite, where guests can use kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, wetsuits and beach equipment free of charge. Nearby are also the remains of an old salmon fishing station, active until 1994.

White sand on some of Europe's oldest rocks. Achmelvich stands out for its turquoise waters and its sand, largely formed from tiny shell fragments. The rocks surrounding the bay are Lewisian gneiss, around 3 billion years old. If you walk across the headland to the north, you will find smaller, much more hidden and tranquil coves.

Small loch directly below the climb up to Suilven, wonderfully atmospheric and scenic place.

A great beach to enjoy the northwest of Scotland. Nearby there is a beach car park (charges) and toilets. A short boardwalk path takes you down to the beach.
