July 16, 2026, Mount Victoria Walking Track

While you can drive to the summit, this route gives a more rugged approach to Mount Donna Buang. The track takes you up a steep climb that will get your lungs and legs burning. By the time you reach the summit, the altitude and cool air make the lookout feel well earned.

Mount Donna Buang is one of the easier alpine lookouts to reach near Melbourne. Its name comes from the Woiwurrung word โ€œDonna Buang,โ€ meaning โ€œthe body of the mountain.โ€ The summit observation tower rises above the treetops for wide views over the valley and the Yarra Ranges.

July 13, 2026, Yarra River Walk

The Yarra River Walk goes along both sides of the river as it flows through Warburton. The flat, shared-use path is great for a relaxing outing by the river or as a convenient, car-free, way to travel around town.

May 12, 2026, Echo Tunnel

The Echo Tunnel is a historic 19th-century bridge where visitors can watch the Maroondah Aqueduct pass under a bridge. The bridge gets its name from a very noticeable echo that can be heard in the tunnel.

May 12, 2026, Condon's Track

Condon's Track or Track 17 is the perfect track to get away from busier areas of Yarra Ranges National Park and explore thick woods with the opportunity to see wild wombats, wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos. Condon's Track loosely follows Swepit Creek, and at the end of Condon's Track there is a junction where you can extend your bushwalk to Road 22 or Road 21.

Normally I wouldnโ€™t call this a real hiking highlight as the โ€œsummitโ€ can also be reached by car and therefore is very crowded. Not exactly what you would expect after a strenuous hike. But thereโ€™s a 21 m high looking tower where you can enjoy nice views over Melbourne and the Alps. However, the way up via the Mt Victoria trail is fantastic.
