The Kartausgarten Eisenach is one of the city's oldest garden complexes and invites visitors to a relaxing stroll through a historic landscape park of around 3.8 hectares. The garden's roots date back to the 14th century, when Carthusian monks founded a monastery here and shaped the area through terracing, ponds, and garden plots. Today, the park impresses with old trees, exotic shrubs, and architectural accents such as the Wandelhalle from the early 20th century. At its center stands the classicist gardener's house with its ornate tea room, which features 19th-century French scenic wallpaper. The Kartausgarten is freely accessible all year round and offers quiet paths, historical insights, and charming vistas – an ideal place for relaxation and small discovery tours in the heart of Eisenach's Südstadt. The listed, approximately 3.8-hectare Kartausgarten is the oldest public garden in the city of Wartburgstadt Eisenach. The Kartausgarten has been municipal property since 1930. In 1950, the deer sculptures, which gave the Hirschwiese its name, were erected, and around 1960 the heath garden was created. In 1979, the Kartausgarten was placed under protection as a cultural monument. The cultivation of ornamental plants for the entire city took place in the greenhouses at the gardener's house. These had to be demolished in the 1990s, and a pergola was built in their place. The beds around the gardener's house, elaborately designed with seasonal flowers, have been part of the facility's summer adornment for 200 years.

After about 20 years, I stayed at the Hotel Kaiserhof for the second time, and this time, too, there was absolutely nothing to complain about. Great location, beautiful old building.
