On the popular Gauertaler AlpkulTour hiking trail, 13 wooden sculptures lead through the Montafon cultural landscape. Here Station 9 - The Avalanche Goat Tree Natural Hazards: people in Montafon have always been exposed to natural hazards. Debris flows, avalanches, and flood disasters are recurring events. In the past, people tried to avoid dangerous areas. This was at least partially possible, but old protective structures such as split wedges and protective walls can still be found. Today, modern protective structures have taken their place. However, the simple three-legged wooden "Lawinenbock" (avalanche goat), as our artist used for the sculpture here, is still used. https://kfm.at/alpkultour/poi-09-lawinenb/
