The gorge is beautiful, but the ruin of the mill is almost impossible to see. Completely overgrown.

Nicely overgrown path. However, a nice challenge to walk. I recommend walking it from bottom to top with good mountain hiking boots. 1 downside: there was a lot of plastic waste in the stream. Should not be possible in a protected nature reserve.

Sturdy shoes and long trousers are strongly recommended: In May, the vegetation was sometimes so dense that the path was rarely clearly visible.

The route includes several river crossings, usually without a bridge. In May, the water was low, so it wasn't challenging. Otherwise, be prepared for wet feet!

Tour along a small creek with some sections to climb. Not suitable for the inexperienced.

The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum pays tribute to the great intellectual, author, thinker, philosopher, politician and traveler Nikos Kazantzakis. The museum consists of a group of buildings in the central square of the historic village of Varvari, now known as Myrtia. The museum exhibition is located on a site that was previously occupied by the home of the Anemoyiannis family, who were related to the father of Nikos Kazantzakis, Kapetan Michalis. Actually an easy, beautiful, shady hike. Actually! We recommend sturdy shoes, durable trousers and good outerwear. The path is partially overgrown with underhand thorns. We had to look for a new path twice, because there was no way through and the bridge was missing (parts were still visible). Otherwise, very nice.
