Difficult climb on pavement in poor conditions for cycling.

The Gruta das Banjas seemingly appears out of nowhere. A giant hole in the ground. The cave lies near the peak of Serra das Banjas, at roughly 325 m elevation, carved into schist bedrock with clear ties to abandoned mine workings. Features include tight passageways and vertical shafts—the result of manual extraction dating back to Roman and later periods, within the broader Dúrico-Beirão mining district. I’d recommend accessing from the western side, and climbing up and out of the main shaft, rather than the opposite way which demands a more challenging climb down into the chasm.

This is the highest point on the ridge of the Serra de Santa Justa. Along the quartzite ridges, the view opens up into an impressive panorama, revealing the grandeur of the landscape in all directions.

At this point, the landscape reveals two distinct worlds: on one side, the view extends over the Greater Porto and the coastline that stretches out on the horizon; on the other, the peaceful valley of the River Ferreira, where the village of Couce preserves its rural charm. A fascinating contrast that accompanies the trail.

It's a downhill track. Wear protection. Starts really fast and then has jumps and drops (Most have an alternative).
