(As of Oct 2025) The meadow path has been completely torn up by wild boars for hundreds of meters. Pushing the bike is a laborious task.

Beautiful, secluded location in the heart of the Tollense Valley, surrounded by farmland and meadows. I'm already looking forward to its completion and opening.

Broock Castle, once the social center of the region and the largest private stud farm in Western Pomerania, will be expanded into a supra-regional conference and cultural center in the coming years. Since May 2023, our guests will be served in the new village shop with café-bistro and beer garden.

Naturpark Flusslandschaft Peenetal is known as the 'Amazon of the North' due to its extensive wetlands, fens, and the largely unregulated Peene River. You'll cycle through diverse riverine environments, forests, and along tranquil lakes. The park is a biodiversity hotspot, so keep an eye out for white-tailed eagles, beavers, otters, and a variety of rare plant species, especially in areas like the Peenetal Moor Nature Reserve.
Beyond the natural beauty, you can explore historical sites and viewpoints. Consider visiting the Viking Burial Ground and Stone Ship Settings at Altes Lager for a glimpse into the past. For wildlife observation, numerous observation towers, such as the Observation Tower with View of the Peene Moor, offer excellent vantage points for birdwatching and spotting other animals.
The Naturpark is beautiful year-round, but spring and autumn often offer the most pleasant conditions for gravel biking. In spring, the wetlands burst with new life, and in autumn, the changing foliage provides stunning colors. Summers are also popular, but be prepared for potentially warmer weather and more visitors. Winters can be cold, with some paths possibly affected by snow or ice.
Given the region's extensive wetlands, paths can be damp or muddy, especially after rain. Always check the local weather forecast before heading out. Layered clothing is advisable, as conditions can change, and waterproof gear is recommended, particularly outside of peak summer. The flat terrain generally means less exposure to strong winds, but it's still wise to be prepared.
Yes, many of the gravel bike routes in Naturpark Flusslandschaft Peenetal are designed as loops, allowing you to start and end at the same point. Examples include the popular Balmer Lake – View of the Gothensee loop from Usedom and the Balmer Lake – Usedom Baltic Sea Cycle Path loop from Neppermin, which offer diverse scenery on a circular path.
Gravel bikers frequently praise the unspoiled natural landscape and the tranquility of the region. The extensive network of gravel and forest paths, combined with the unique wetland environment and the Peene River, offers an immersive experience away from crowded areas. The opportunity to spot diverse wildlife, especially birds, is also a highlight for many.
The Naturpark is home to Europe's largest contiguous fen region, which is a unique natural monument in itself. You can also visit the Restored Polder Wetlands in Peenetal Nature Park, which showcase successful conservation efforts. The Peene River itself, as one of Germany's last unregulated rivers, is a significant natural feature.
