We stayed one night at the hotel to start our tour around the prison. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The bikes could be stored in a locked garage.

You can take a leisurely walk in the Anklam city forest. The trees are very young in places, but the paths are mostly easy to walk on, there are numerous benches and rubbish bins. There is a large sports field to the east.

The Catholic Church of St. Salvator was built in the neo-Romanesque style in 1900/01 for the Polish and Silesian seasonal workers who worked in the fields around Anklam. The church was built on a silted branch of the Peene, which would have required a complex pile foundation for a tower. Instead she got a roof turret.

Until 2000, old prefabricated buildings still stood on the market square. By 2018, excavations had secured the foundations of the old town hall, which was located in the middle of the square. The prefabricated buildings were demolished and replaced by typical market buildings. The market square has inscriptions in the ground that reflect the history of Anklam and the Greifenbrunnen was placed in the middle of the square. Over the last 20 years, the market square has developed into a very beautiful central square!

According to the information board, this is the oldest school building in Anklam. The QR code refers to this page, where you can hear something about the history of the building: https://steintor-guide.museumnet.eu/740 Before the school building was built, students were only taught in rented rooms. The school still exists today, but an extension is necessary because the school has exhausted its capacity. The building is a historical monument.
