Bromham Mill Coffee Shop is a charming café located within the historic Bromham Mill complex and is a great place to grab some refreshments on your ride

Great place along the river for coffee and cake. Although off the main road, this cafe is on NCN Route 51 which is smooth tarmac route along the Ouse. Benefits from seating outside the cafe so that bike doesn't have to be locked up, reducing the faff time.

Cafes and nice buildings river side. Watch out for the "Rower" on the River Ouse

Great coffee and cycle snacks, the Longholme café is my favourite stop along the river. Still running takeaway from cafe entrance so no need to lock up the bike, reducing faff. A few wooden reels to sit under the trees and enjoy your treat.

Bromham Watermill is a flour mill on the River Great Ouse. Earlier mills existed on this site, but the current incarnation was built of brick, timber and stone in either the late 18th or early 19th century. Its cafe is a good place to grab a coffee before or after exploring the nearby Bromham Mill Nature Reserve.

The historic county town of Bedford was founded on a ford on the River Great Ouse and has long been a thriving market town. It was once host to a large medieval castle, built by Henry I. Only the motte is evident today, after Henry III besieged the castle in 1224 and ordered its destruction once the conflict was won. It is an important stop over on the Ouse Valley Way, a long-distance trail that follows the river from source to sea. There are a number of places to eat and drink in the town and no shortage of accommodation either.

Kempston Riverside Park follows the River Great Ouse as it meanders into central Bedford. Myriad trails explore the surrounding greenery and there are a few small lakes and ponds that offer numerous wildlife spotting opportunities. Kingfishers are a common sight along this stretch.
