Tips from the Community

Andrus
March 15, 2026, James Cooper Lookout Trail

This trail takes you out to the James Cooper Lookout and it can be taken as a short and steep out and back hike from North Shore Road, a shorter and less steep hike from Mifflin Road, or as a loop hike with a bit of road walking. However you decide to tackle this trail you'll be rewarded with great views over Beech Lake.

This viewpoint gives you a beautiful view over Beech Lake, with Maple, Boshkung, and Twelve Mile lakes in the distance. It's accessible via a short, but steep ascent from North Shore Road, or by an easier approach from Miflin Road. Thankfully, there is a bench to rest on while you take in the view.
