Although not particularly long, this trail is nevertheless very beautiful and leads through the deep gorge of the Riega de Navedo, a side gorge of the Desfiladero de la Hermida. In the gorge, one can apparently practice canyoning or similar activities – a whole group of "hikers" in wetsuits came towards me.

The hiking trail leads through the gorge of the Riega Cicera and connects the Desiladero de la Hermida with the village of Cicera. The gorge is almost 600m deep shortly before its end, offering an impressive sight. The path is probably the most beautiful part of the Ruta de las Agueras, a circular hiking trail around the Mirador de Santa Catalina. Shortly before Cicera, a narrow path branches off to two waterfalls, definitely worth it.

The Mirador de Santa Catalina is a truly spectacular viewpoint about 600m above the Desfiladero de la Hermida, the spectacular gorge in the east of the Picos de Europa. The viewpoint can be reached via the Senda Mitológica, for example as a detour from the Ruta de las Agueras - or via a narrow asphalt road. Due to access for cars and motorcycles, it can sometimes be a bit crowded here.

Going down the Camino del Potro when you finally find some shade and therefore the desired shade, you come across this wonderful stream that served as our spot to rest and regain strength after a good path with a lot of sun and heat. (We went in July and until then there wasn't a single shadow) So much so that the dog got in and lay down in the water and the rest of us took the opportunity to regain some strength and cool our feet.

This section of the León-Unquera highway parallel to the Deva River leaves you speechless. A paved road in the purest alpine style. You cross winding curves that open a gap between high limestone walls.

It is worth getting here to have some beautiful views of the Deva river valley. In the town of Cicera you must take the detour along the north path that leads to the hermitage of Santa Catalina and from there continue a few more meters, highly recommended!
